New Cloud Optical Properties Data Released
Published: 16 July 2025

New data are available from the Cloud Optical Properties from the Multifilter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer value-added product (MFRSRCLDOD VAP). This VAP produces cloud optical depth for overcast liquid clouds using narrowband irradiance measurements from MFRSRs at Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) User Facility sites.
MFRSRCLDOD data are now available for the following ARM sites and date ranges:
- Gothic, Colorado, during the Surface Atmosphere Integrated Field Laboratory (SAIL) campaign from September 1, 2021, through June 15, 2023
- La Jolla, California, during the Eastern Pacific Cloud Aerosol Precipitation Experiment (EPCAPE) from February 15, 2023, through February 14, 2024
- La Porte, Texas, during the TRacking Aerosol Convection interactions ExpeRiment (TRACER) from October 1, 2021, through October 2, 2022
- Nainital, Uttarkhand, India, during the Ganges Valley Aerosol Experiment (GVAX) from June 24, 2011, through April 1, 2012
- Shouxian, Anhui, China, during the Study of Aerosol Indirect Effects in China (AEROSOLINDIRECT) from May 29 through December 28, 2008
- Southern Great Plains (SGP) extended facility E40 (Pawnee, Oklahoma) from November 14, 2015, through December 16, 2022
- SGP E41 (Peckham, Oklahoma) from April 7, 2016, through August 2, 2023.
Future processing of additional SGP E40 and E41 data will depend on the availability of MFRSR input data from those sites.
More information about MFRSRCLDOD, including the technical report, can be found on the VAP web page.
