Role

  • Atmospheric Scientist, Brookhaven National Laboratory

Education

  • PhD, Chemical Dynamics, University of Utah, 1988
  • BSc, Chemistry, University of Wyoming, 1983

Research Interests

My interests include elucidating and quantifying how atmospheric aging impacts the optical and microphysical properties of carbonaceous aerosols through aircraft-based and ground-based field campaigns and lab studies; the development of novel optical-based instrumentation for aerosol and chemical detection and monitoring; and measurement of fundamental spectroscopic properties. I am ARM mentor for several aerosol instruments.

Professional Experience

I was co-principal for ARM’s Biomass Burning Observation Project (BBOP) in 2013 and Aerosol Lifecycle Intensive Observation Period in 2011. I have been a research chemist at BNL since 1992 and was a postdoctoral research associate there before that.
