This week, Professor Polar Bear and the Climate Kids are traveling around the U.S. to promote Earth Science Week. ARM Educational Outreach was invited to contribute educational materials for tool kits that will be distributed to teachers at the American Geosciences Institute (AGI)’s 2014 Earth Science Week. The annual event, which takes place October 12-18, attracts about 1 million teachers and students nationwide and reaches approximately 50 million people overall.

At the event organizer’s request, ARM Educational Outreach shared 16,000 copies of the 4-page activity books for inclusion in the tool kits, along with 16,000 bookmarks with a new kid-friendly design, which highlights ARM’s North Slope of Alaska (NSA) sites. The American Geosciences Institute has been organizing this world-wide event since 1998 to help the public understand and appreciate the Earth sciences and encourage students to learn about the Earth. This year’s theme, “Earth’s Connected Systems,” highlights the relationships of Earth systems‐geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.
