Atmospheric Electric Field-Mill Sensor
1 September 2014 - 31 August 2019
Lead Scientist: Hugo Silva
Observatory: ENA (Eastern North Atlantic)
The Evora Geophysics Centre (CGE) is studying the vertical component of the atmospheric electric field (AEF) and its relation with the concentration of aerosols and natural radioactivity (mainly radon) in the lower troposphere. This work is part of the scientific strategy of Laboratory of Atmospheric Electricity (http://www.lae.cge.uevora.pt/) and ENA’s presents a great opportunity to do valuable measurements to fulfil such objective. Parallel to this, it would be possible to launch meteorological balloons, in collaboration with the University of Reading, for charge and alfa, beta, and gamma particles profiling of the atmosphere (up to 30 km).
