Colorado State University Seeks Radar Meteorology Research Scientist

Published: 25 September 2012

Colorado State University’s (CSU) Department of Atmospheric Science invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher or an early career research scientist to conduct radar meteorology research. As a member of the Radar Meteorology Group, led by Dr. Steven Rutledge at the CSU-CHILL National Radar Facility, this position will engage in cutting-edge research in a variety of radar-related areas. Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing Doppler and polarimetric radar data observations in warm and cold season precipitation events, conducting research on midlatitude and tropical convection, and relating radar observations to cloud resolving and mesoscale model simulations. In Rutledge’s research group, research scientists play a significant role in mentoring graduate student members. This position will be physically located at the CSU Fort Collins foothills location.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Atmospheric Science or Electrical Engineering with work in radar data. In addition, applicants should have extensive knowledge of Doppler radar data and analysis techniques, storm dynamics, and microphysics. Applicants may be considered who can demonstrate they will complete their PhD by December 2012.

The application deadline is October 10, 2012. Applicants should submit a cover letter describing their research interest in the area of Doppler and polarimetric research, curriculum vitae with relevant publications (up to four pages combined), and the names and contact information of three references to: RSsearchRutledge@atmos.colostate.edu.
