EPSCoR grants support early-stage research across a wide range of DOE science and technology program areas. Goals include improving sustainable and competitive energy-related research; establishing foundational research capabilities; building relationships between scientists, engineers, and Office of Science laboratories; and leveraging DOE laboratories to take advantage of opportunities for intellectual collaboration across DOE.

EPSCoR also places a high priority on increasing the number of scientists and engineers in energy-related areas. The program emphasizes collaboration among young faculty, postdoctoral associates, and graduate/undergraduate students supported by EPSCoR with scientists from the DOE national laboratories where unique scientific and technical capabilities are present. The program supports the most meritorious proposals based on merit and peer review.

The new funding opportunity, DE-FOA-0002431, is intended to improve research capability through the support of a group of scientists and engineers, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, working on a common scientific theme in one or more EPSCoR jurisdictions.

The deadline to submit pre-applications is Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 5 p.m. Eastern time. Review the full funding opportunity announcement, including eligibility and submission information.
