The High Spectral Resolution Lidar (HSRL) Ship Correction (HSRLSHIPCOR) VAP is intended to correct the effect of ship motion on the lidar measurements, which are intended to be vertically pointing. HSRLSHIPCOR is provided as an evaluation product for the MAGIC and ACAPEX campaigns.

The particulate extinction and backscatter cross sections, and the circular depolarization ratio are corrected to account for the motion (pitch, roll, heave) of the ship. If motion measurements are unavailable, then the values are uncorrected. QC fields are provided to indicate whether or not a field has been corrected. Additionally, fields are provided to indicate the amount +/- of the correction.

Purpose

HSRLSHIPCOR is provided as an evaluation product for the MAGIC and ACAPEX campaigns.
