EARTHSCOPE
EarthScope Seismic Station A21K-6
15 November 2013 - 3 May 2021
Lead Scientist: Robert Busby
Observatory: NSA
The EarthScope Transportable Array is an earthquake observing system, operated and maintained by IRIS (a non-profit corporation of US Universities) on behalf of the National Science Foundation. It uses continuously operating seismic stations to record ground motion caused by earthquakes and volcanic processes. This station is one of 300 such stations on a proposed grid spacing of 85km (51 miles), and together these stations will allow scientists to gain new insights into the earthquake process and to generate three dimensional images of the earth from the crust to the core. More information about the Alaska phase of the EarthScope project is available at www.usarray.org/alaska.Timeline
