Purpose
The Landsat satellites are used to acquire remotely sensed images of the Earth's land surface and surrounding coastal regions.
The Landsat-5 TM files are binary. In addition, some of the Landsat-5 TM files were sent to the Archive in exported form from ArcInfo (GIS software).
The Landsat-7 TM files are HDF. These files are delivered to the archive as tarred files and include documentation.
Landsat-5 TM satellite data scenes are available for the NSA and SGP sites. In addition, Landsat-7 satellite data scenes are available for the SGP and TWP.
