This process accepts MPLPOL instrument files as input. The MPLPOL files contain data during which the polarization state alternates every few seconds. The MPLPOLAVG process segregates the data according to the polarization mode to produce two 30-second interleaved averages for each polarization mode. Except for this simple averaging, the lidar signals are otherwise entirely uncorrected and still require application of several standard lidar corrections in subsequent value-added products or processing.
