This VAP uses different ground-based active and passive remote sensors which can provide complementary capabilities to classify cloud phase and cloud type in different climate regions.

The resultant dataset of cloud macrophysical properties includes cloud boundaries, thickness, phase, type, and precipitation information, and hence provides a useful tool for evaluation of model simulations and satellite based retrieval algorithms, as well as cloud process studies.
