Guidance on Deployments

The Cloud And Precipitation Experiment at kennaook (CAPE-k) will deploy components of the second ARM Mobile Facility to the Kennaook/Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station on the northwestern tip of Tasmania. CAPE-k will provide cloud and precipitation observations from a suite of ground-based remote sensors from mid-April 2024 through September 2025.

Scientists who wish to participate in CAPE-k may do so through the guest instrument proposal process. Read the CAPE-k Guest Instrument Guidance to learn how to propose for a guest instrument deployment.

Scientists with an approved deployment will have opportunities to send guest instruments for CAPE-k before monthlong intensive operational periods begin in June 2024, October 2024, and May 2025. Deadlines for shipping instruments to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are provided in the table below for deployment during these periods.

Instrument mentors who wish to have their instruments at CAPE-k before the start of the campaign need to have their instruments at LANL by December 15. Instrument mentors may also send instruments with the following shipments listed below.

Don’t forget to use a shipping request form when sending CAPE-k guest instruments to LANL so that they are expected.
