Published: 16 August 2021

This postdoctoral appointment in the Environmental Science Division of  Argonne National Laboratory will involve methodological and applied research related to wind energy resource characterization for onshore and offshore situations. In particular, the focus will be on high-resolution mesoscale atmospheric modeling and ocean-atmosphere coupling.

Education and Experience Requirements

For this position, we are looking for applicants with experience in the area of regional/mesoscale modeling using Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) and similar models and interest and expertise in analyzing observational datasets and model output. In particular, experience in working on topics related to wind resource modeling, ocean waves, atmosphere coupling, and the use of remote sensing wind data will be an advantage. Strong programming skills to handle large datasets on high-performance computing resources and good written and oral communication skills are preferred. Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

A recent or soon-to-be completed PhD in engineering, or physical sciences related to Atmospheric Sciences or Engineering is required for this role
