My main research interests lie in closing the gap between measurements, high-resolution modeling, and lower-resolution global modeling. I lead several projects at Sandia including an initiative to collect in situ data at the AMF3 Oliktok Point site in Alaska via the Tethered Balloon System. I am experienced in using ARM data from the Barrow and Oliktok Point sites to compare with high-resolution Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model output.
My recent work has also included developing use of the global model’s variable resolution utility over the Northern Pacific for extratropical storm research, the North Slope of Alaska, and the lower-48 (CONUS).
