Commentary:

Well, I rousted everyone out of bed on two ships and the Cessna crew at sunrise in anticipation of convective cells. Wonderfully clear skies greeted us. Now you know why I went into research--out of desperation. I can't forecast to save my life.

Visual Observations:

Alas, the skiers have gotten wise to the ruse. They were suspicious yesterday with all the passing out from the heat. But today they tried packing Connor in snow to make a snow man. The darn stuff wouldn't stick. Neither could they make snow balls. They really got upset when one skier, who was eating the phosphate powder, noticed it had a yellowish tint and remembered his mother's warnings about the yellow stuff.

I'm heading to my motel room quickly while they're busy taking off their ski outfits, with murderous gleams in their eyes. I've also hidden Connor's shoes...

Instrument Status:

Atmospheric Radiation and Cloud Station (ARCS2) Site Instruments:

Everything is okay except the millimeter cloud radar (MMCR) time series We're still trying to fix it.

Nauru99 Ancillary Instruments:

All instruments are working well. The sun photometer tracker was sticking a bit today, but Jason fixed it.

Cloud Layer Heights:

Scattered small clouds @800-1000 m throughout the afternoon. From 02:00-05:00 local time, a thick layer of cloud was detected at 4.5-6 km. A double layer at 4.5 km and 5.5 km was detected between 02:30-03:00 local time. Radar: still trouble with the time series data; TS continues

Lidar: Cirrus clouds at 15 km from 12:00-14:00 local time. Thick clouds detected from 20:00-21:00, 23:00-01:00, and 02:00-05:00 at 5-7 km with double decker from 02:30-03:30 as seen by the VCeil.
