Initial stages of ICRCCM3: Intercomparison of Radiation Codes in Climate Models for clouds in the longwave

Ellingson, Robert Florida State University
Gu, Jiujing Florida State University
Takara, Ezra Florida State University

Category: Radiation

This is a continuation of the Intercomparison of Radiation Codes in Climate Models (ICRCCM) for longwave and shortwave clear sky and ICRCCM2 for clouds in the shortwave. ICRCCM3 will be for clouds in the longwave. Clear sky results from the recent version of LBLRTM will be shown and used to validate 3D Monte Carlo model, which uses the broadband integration scheme from SHDOM. The Monte Carlo code will be used to provide benchmark solutions for an increasingly complex set of cloud cases that will be the basis for the intercomparison of the radiation codes in participating climate models.

This poster will be displayed at the ARM Science Team Meeting.
