LANL Seeking Radar Engineer for ARM Facility

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is currently seeking a radar engineer (Engineering Technologist 2) for the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility. ARM sites include a broad array of instrumentation, including radars, lidars, radiometers, and meteorological sensors. The radar engineer will play an integral role developing a Field Instrument Deployments and Operations (FIDO) Radar Operations team consisting of an engineering technologist and two technicians. FIDO is presently responsible for 11 radars located around the world.

The successful candidate must possess an associate degree or higher with technical expertise and experience in relevant theories, principles, and concepts. A minimum of 5 years experience with an associate degree, or 0-2 years experience with a Bachelor of Science degree. Preferred candidates will have a background in:

  • System design/integration
  • Feedback loop stability analysis and testing
  • Data analysis software (MATLAB, IDL, etc.)
  • Linux in a real-time environment
  • Computer hardware/software integration
  • Communications skills.
