Published: 8 October 2010

Dr. Long was recently selected as a member of the editorial board of The Open Atmospheric Science Journal.
Congratulations to Chuck Long, who has been selected for the editorial board of The Open Atmospheric Science Journal. The Open Atmospheric Science Journal, established in 2007, is an online journal that publishes research articles, reviews, and letters in all areas of climate research and atmospheric science.

Dr. Long, from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is the site scientist for ARM’s Tropical Western Pacific site and a long-time ARM user. He specializes in the study of clouds and their effect on the surface radiation energy balance of the Earth-atmosphere system. In 2011, he will serve as the principal investigator for two related field campaigns, ARM MJO Investigation Experiment, or AMIE, on Manus Island, and AMIE-Gan, using the second ARM Mobile Facility in the vicinity of Gan Island, Maldives. These campaigns will investigate the evolution of convection within the framework of the Madden-Julian Oscillation within the Indian Ocean area.
