Look for ARM’s new social media bar on the front page and in the ARM News Center.

Starting this summer, the ARM Communications Team began moving archived ARM photo and video content into both Flickr and YouTube, respectively. These popular and cost-effective social media outlets join ARM’s existing Facebook and Twitter accounts, providing additional options for sharing information with users and the public. All four sites can be accessed from the new social media bar on the ARM home page.

YouTube offers a free and convenient space for storing videos and animations, and because it is dedicated solely to videos, there is no clutter from other content. It also offers the ability to share videos longer than 1.5 minutes, which is the current limitation on Flickr, the new location for ARM images. ARM’s traditional Image Library is being phased out due to its outdated host server, and Flickr was identified as its replacement based on its reputation for efficiently storing large image collections. The ARM image collection on Flickr is organized in numerous ways, including by site, year, field campaign, and measurement categories, enabling users to quickly find images they are interested in.

Short video clips, like the ARM Mission, are now available on YouTube. Both ARM’s YouTube channel and Flickr collection have material spanning the two decades of the program’s history. For example, on YouTube you can find Clouds of Change, a documentary dating from 1999 that features ARM’s Tropical Western Pacific site. In Flickr, more than 1300 images are available, ranging from the 1998 SHEBA field campaign to recent activities for the second ARM Mobile Facility.

ARM welcomes your submissions of videos or images related to ARM that might be appropriate for these collections. If you want to submit an item for inclusion, or if you have any questions about our social media outlets, contact the ARM Communications Team at www@arm.gov.
