ARM Scientists Lead International Radiation Symposium in Brazil

Published: 20 August 2008

The ARM Science Team showed up in force at the 2008 International Radiation Symposium (IRS), held August 3-8 at Foz do IguaƧu, Brazil. The goal of the symposium is to provide a venue to present up-to-date results about the current problems in atmospheric radiation and to encourage the exchange of ideas within the international community. Bob Ellingson and Robert Cahalan chaired the plenary session, which included five invited speakers from the ARM Science Team. More than a dozen additional ARM scientists participated as conveners or invited speakers during the nine symposia sessions. More information about the sessions and speakers is available on the symposium website.

The IRS is organized every four years by the International Radiation Commission, which is part of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences. This year’s gathering was the first time the IRS has taken place in South America. Proceedings will be edited and published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP).
