Make a Difference: Get Involved

Nominations are underway for the ARM Facility’s User Executive committee (UEC). The UEC is made up of scientific users of ARM data. Members are selected according to popular vote by the users according to science areas.

This year, in addition to soliciting nominations for science themes, we are accepting nominations to add a young investigator to the committee. The committee is seeking student candidates currently pursuing a PhD or an early career scientist who is within 5 years of obtaining a PhD as of January 1, 2017. The young investigator may be associated with any of the science themes and will serve a 2-year term.

There are currently 10 UEC members representing constituents from 12 science domains and cross-cutting themes. For this 2-year election cycle, half of the current members have been randomly selected to cycle off the committee to establish staggered 4-year terms. The members who will be cycling off this year are Ernie Lewis, Chuck Long, Hailong Wang, Rob Wood, and Dave Turner. Because they have only served half a term, these individuals will be eligible to stand for election this year along with the rest of the community.

Nominations are the first in a two-part process to select new committee members. Following the nomination phase, an election will be held during the latter half of October. Terms for elected members shall begin on January 1.

Deadline to submit your nomination ballot(s) is no later than October 3.
