Early Career Funding Opportunity Available

earlycareerprogramA funding opportunity for early career researchers in universities and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories is available from the Office of Biological and Environmental Research (BER). The Early Career Research Program, now in its eighth year, supports the development of individual research programs of outstanding scientists early in their careers and stimulates research careers in the disciplines supported by the DOE Office of Science.

This year, the Climate and Environmental Sciences Division topic is titled “Modeling the Drivers and Impacts of Extreme Events.” Successful BER applications must include a combined model-observation investigation of climate extremes—particularly droughts, floods or heat waves—and with a particular interest in techniques to address compounding multivariate extremes. A complete description of the topic is available in FOA-0001625, starting on page 10.

Dr. Renu Joseph (renu.joseph@science.doe.gov) is the technical contact for the topic.
