The 2010 joint APS and AAPT meeting presented an excellent opportunity to share ARM information with both scientists and educators.
To create visibility for scientific user facilities, the National User Facility Organization, or NUFO, hosted an exhibit at the 2010 American Physical Society/American Association of Physics Teachers meeting in Washington, D.C. from February 13-15. The two organizations are member societies within the American Institute of Physics. Under the theme “Physics for the Nation’s Future” the joint meeting combined the availability of the APS scientific sessions with AAPT workshops, providing ample opportunities for educators to interact with scientists and vice versa. The NUFO steering committee coordinated their exhibit to share informational materials from various scientific user facilities, including ARM, which provided an updated fact sheet highlighting its capabilities for the research community.

The NUFO steering committee was formed to facilitate communication among users, user organizations, facility administrators, and other stakeholders to discuss the benefits and significance of research conducted at scientific user facilities. NUFO seeks to provide a unified message at the national level on issues of resources for science, economic competitiveness, and education for the next-generation scientific workforce.
