Eleventh Biennial HITRAN Conference

Published: 10 December 2009

The Eleventh Biennial HITRAN Conference will take place from June 16-18, 2010, at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This meeting will mark the union with the ASA (Atmospheric Spectroscopy Applications) workshop that has traditionally been held every three years in Reims, France.

HITRAN stands for the high-resolution transmission molecular absorption database, a compilation of spectroscopic parameters that a variety of computer codes use to predict and simulate the transmission and emission of light in the atmosphere.  This year’s HITRAN meeting will be organized around the topics:

  • Current status of the molecular spectroscopic database
  • Relevant new spectroscopic data
  • Priorities for incorporation of new parameters
  • Laboratory techniques
  • User applications
  • Characterization of spectroscopic parameters required by radiative-transfer modeling
  • Database archiving, access, and methodology.

The meeting will include oral and poster presentations. The conference encourages posters that promote interaction among participants and communications that present new research prior to peer-reviewed publication. The deadline for submission of abstracts is May 3, but the conference suggests submitting as early as possible.

Since space is limited, pre-registration is highly recommended. A registration form is available on the HITRAN website.
