Call for Abstracts for the IAMAS General Assembly 2009

Published: 23 December 2008

The International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) General Assembly 2009 will be held in Montreal, Canada, July 19-29, 2009. This will be a joint assembly for the IAMAS, International Association for the Physical Sciences of the Oceans (IAPSO), and International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS).

Of interest to the ARM community, the IAMAS Session M14, 3D Radiative Transfer in the Atmosphere, is inviting papers on modeling and observations involving three-dimensional (3D) radiative transfer applications to the Earth’s atmosphere and surface (vegetation, land and sea ice). Particular interest will be taken in aspects of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation (e.g., actinic flux, irradiance on
horizontal and tilted receivers including biological ones), visible and near-infared radiation with applications to solar radiative transfer and remote sensing, and 3D effects due to variations in thermal absorption and emissivity. Methods for identifying errors and limits of various radiative transfer methods, and highlighting 3D effects characteristic of UV, Vis-NIR, and thermal radiative transfer should be included. Papers on new approaches explicitly considering 3D radiative effects are strongly encouraged.

Deadline for submission of abstracts is January 23, 2009. To learn more and submit online, see the Joint Assembly website.
