MWR

Long-Term Microwave Radiometer Intercomparison
1 April 2001 - 30 September 2001
Lead Scientist: Richard Cederwall
Observatory: sgp, sgp
Scientific hypothesis: Microwave radiometer (MWR) observations of brightness temperature at 23.8 and 31.4 GHz will remain stable over long periods of time. Colocated instruments will provide identical retrievals of precipitable water vapor and longwave radiation data.
Approach to test hypothesis: Operate two colocated MWR at the Southern Great Plains (SGP) Central Facility for several months spanning the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
Activity Summary
Make the spare MWR operational. Ingest data from the spare MWR. Input the output data of the spare MWR and ingest to VAP. Provide data to IOP participants.
