Campaign : MASRAD: Pt. Reyes Stratus Cloud and Drizzle Study
2005.07.07 - 2005.07.31
Lead Scientist : Richard Coulter
For data sets, see below.
Description
The primary goal for deployment of a micropulse lidar at Pt. Reyes was the shakedown and comparison with the ARM micropulse lidar. The secondary goal was to determine its effectiveness in detecting aerosol movement below and into stratus clouds. The profiler and sodar were necessary for the continuous measurement of wind profiles below, through and above stratus clouds, which in combination with aircraft in-situ measurements aid in determining the modification of aerosols by cloud processes. In addition the sodar and profiler provide continuous knowledge of the mixed layer and land processes affecting cloud development and changes as they move from above ocean to land.
